Train yourself to be godly
This meaning for TRAIN means gymnazo – the word we have today is
gymnasium.
Greek – To train with ones full effort.
Greek athletes wore a small loin cloth or went naked when the began training.
Dont panic I’m not going to start a cult of disciples that run around in undies for Jesus!
We need to train ourselves; we need to strip away all of that which is ourselves.

OUR mindsets
OUR plans
But we do it with FULL effort!
FULL effort.
“But its so hard!”
Yeah, that’s why its called training. You don’t get six pack abs with out a bit of hard work and sacrifice.
Note I put ATTITUDE first.
This is the most important part.
With attitude comes GRACE. Without grace you will have the biggest stumbling block.
Grace asks for sacrifice
Grace asks you pray for your enemies or the people you struggle with.
Grace asks you to love.
The other little word in this verse is godly.
Godly/godliness (NKJV): eusebeia
Greek – someones inner response to the things of God which
shows itself in godly reverence.
On this train God wants all your EFFORT to make your inner response
GODLY in reverence to Him.
Today is Easter Sunday.
Come on, if God can give up His only son to die for us, I’m sure you can strip away the things that are holding
you back from being the godly man or woman He wants you to be.
