Give Me a Break!

1 Kings 5:4
“But now the Lord my God has given me rest on every side;
there is neither adversary nor evil occurrence”

Hows life?
Everyone I seem to talk to seems to being going through tough times.
I think we have had about four years of tough times. Probably more if I’m to be honest.

My good mate Fergus McIntyre once said that he saw times of stretching coming up for us. I never envisaged this long, long battle.
Because it has been tough spiritually, physically, mentally, financially and emotionally.

We built a church from scratch.
We started a subdivision then came the world financial crisis
Then our funds and funding seemed to dry up overnight.
My hips buggered because of too much running and a classy gene pool.
My beautiful wife Helen had to go to work so we could live so the family suffers just that little bit more.

We build another church.

Helen’s mum gets breast cancer.
My whole family gets shouted a free trip to Bali for three weeks. YES!!
So Helen and I were so relieved and so blessed to have this trip and it was truly a life saver. We honestly thought and actually said that the worse was over and nothing worse could happen.

Helen’s dad has just found out he has terminal cancer and may not even make it to Christmas.

We have a few choices here.
Blame God. Blame Satan. Scream and yell.
Put our heads in the sand.
Give up.
All of the above?

Nah. No thanks. It’s called stretching.
I choose to keep my faith in God that he knows what he is doing. He’s earned my trust so far and there’s no reason to think otherwise.

I go back to and hold on to his word……….

“I will never leave you nor forsake you”

“I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and
not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future”

“The Lord searches all the world looking to strengthen those fully committed to him”

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding”

Hows life?
I’m being stretched but I reckon its because God is going to fill
our stretched bodies with something pretty cool because God is love.
