I heard this quote from Charles Spurgeon at our C3 Conference in Ellerslie (he wasn’t actually there, someone else said it for him)
“Have you no wish for others to be saved?
Then you’re not saved yourself, be sure of that!”
This truly challenged me and should challenge you too.
Before you get your knickers in a twist and want to argue scripture or burn me to a stake, consider these things:
– How does this comment make you feel?
– Why does it make you feel this way?
If Christ is in us, and the bible says he is if we have accepted him as Lord and Saviour, then shouldn’t there be a unquenchable burning desire to tell/show/live out this new life in Christ?
Here’s the tough yard stick to measure ourselves by – how many people have we lead to Christ?
Im not just talking about preaching on the street corner and shoving the bible down peoples throats.
I’m talking about giving to the poor and needy on a regular basis.
Giving while no one is looking.
Encouraging with kind words
Cutting some timber for the elderly
Praying for the sick
If you’re up to it – cast out demons.
You know the rest…………
Sometimes you need to earn the right, the trust, of people before you can speak into their lives.
David Platt said
“Obedience to Christ is not easy…
It’s not comfort,
it’s not health,
it’s not wealth,
and it’s not prosperity in this world.
Obedience to Christ risks losing all these things.
But in the end, such risk finds its reward in Christ.
And he is more than enough for us.”
If any of this resonates in your heart then lets spend some time
listening to others, caring for others THEN you can share
the amazing love of Christ with a bit more
Please send me an email or comment below and let me know your thoughts, challenges or just whats on your heart.
God bless.
