I love discovering new words. Words like:
Loquacious – talkative or tending to talk a lot
Altruistic – unselfish. Selfless concern for the well being of others
You know we have so many words which can become labels, for good or bad, for people’s characters, behaviours, attitudes etc. I like the nice ones.
I discovered this new word today in a story I was reading on the computer.
It’s pretty cool.
Alacrity
It means brisk and cheerful readiness
brisk and cheerful readiness
Brisk – active and energetic
Readiness – fully prepared for something
Cheerful – noticeably happy and optimistic
What a cool characteristic to have.
I believe it’s a trait that all Christians should have don’t you?
2 Timothy 2:4 says we should be ready, prepared, in season, out of season
Hebrews 4:12 says the word of God in each of us (Christ) is alive and active
We should all be ready and active in all these five areas
Physically, Mentally, Emotionally, Spiritually, Financially
2 Corinthians 9 sums it up for us
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
Come on! We should all be cheerfully ready and prepared at all times to give physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all these things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
Alacrity.
I like it. I like it a lot!
